Government P.E and Sport funding
Northgate has been allocated £16,200 for PE and Sport funding for the academic year 2017-18. This funding has to be spent effectively and to improve the quality and breadth of PE and sport provision, including increasing participation in PE and sport so that all pupils develop healthy lifestyles and reach the performance levels they are capable of. At Northgate the funding has been allocated to provide the following provision:
- To provide opportunities for ALL pupils to achieve in PE.
- To introduce and develop an enhanced PE Programme with SASP for curriculum based opportunities for whole classes/year groups.
- To purchase gym and adility equipment for Northgate school and provide training for staff by a specialist PE teacher which will enable all teaching staff to teach exciting, well resourced lessons.
- To equip a brand new school with outdoor PE equipment to promote sport and fitness
- To provide opportunities for older children to lead outdoor games activities at breaktimes
This funding will begin to enhance the provisions for PE and sport at Northgate and increase the participation in PE and sport so that all pupils will be provided with opportunities to reach the levels they are capable of whilst having fun, working as individuals or within a team and participating in competitive sports.

|SASP||Action: To enter the enhanced competition programme with SASP. This will provide opportunities for ALL pupils to develop within a range of PE sports and activities. It consists of a calendar of competition that demonstrates opportunities for young people to take part in competitive sporting activities.
Impact: Opportunities were provided for staff to develop their own skills to teach PE. Competitions and festivals, at a central venue, against other schools were entered. Whole year groups worked together and competed against other schools. Planned professional learning support was provided to help improve the learning and progress for the pupils in the class/year group.
|Indoor PE Equipment||Action: To purchase gym equipment so gym lessons can be taught effectively.
Impact: Children showed progress within their gymnastics lessons.
|Outdoor PE Equpiment||
Action: To purchase a range of outdoor equipment for PE lessons in line with the National Curriculum
Impact: The children developed competence, and excelled in a broad range of outdoor physical activities.
Action: Staff meeting to be run by a SASP qualified coach ensuring all staff are confident to teach using the new gym equipment.
Impact: Following training the staff felt more confident in delivery of the PE curriculum using the equipment. CPD was achieved for staff.
Action: To provide equipment and tabard's for play leaders to encourage younger children to take part in physical activity
Impact: Childrens leadership skills were developed. Children were encouraged to be physically active for sustained periods of time.
Any remaining funding will be spent during the new academic year to enhance PE provision
